What is a long haired Dachshund like?
A Dachshund in a silk jacket: soft, straight-to-slightly-wavy coat with feathering on the ears, chest, legs and a plumed tail, over the same bold, loud, devoted hound as every other coat. Kennel Club figures put the Miniature under 5kg and 13 to 18cm tall. Budget brushing two to three times weekly; the full coat arrives between 12 and 18 months. The question that fills Dachshund Facebook groups: "what will my long haired dachshund puppy look like grown up?" The honest answer is: not like the puppy, and not for a while. The coat change from fluff to silk is a slow reveal, and knowing the timeline saves months of needless worry for every mini long haired dachshund owner watching the scruffy stage with alarm.

The grooming calendar that keeps the silk
Long haired dachshund grooming is a rhythm, not a project. Two to three brushing sessions weekly with a slicker brush, followed by a metal comb through the feathering, focusing on the four mat zones: behind the ears, the armpits, the harness line and the trouser feathering. Ten minutes a session once the habit exists, and the breed’s food motivation makes the habit easy to buy.
Singapore adds two lines to the calendar. Humidity accelerates matting, so a missed week here costs more than a missed week in a dry climate; and rain-walk days end with a proper towel-dry of the undercarriage, because damp feathering is where felting starts. A professional groomer every six to eight weeks for a bath, tidy and nail round completes the system: no clipping needed, ever, and never a shave-down for heat.

Here is the honest decode: cream is a genuine, lovely Dachshund colour, a pale shading of the red family, and "English cream" describes cream lines bred down from certain UK kennels. The words "English" and "British" on an ad are provenance marketing, not a separate breed, colour or health tier.
Our position: we place cream long haired dachshund puppies regularly, they are our single most requested combination, and they price inside the same published band as every other colour. If a seller quotes a four-figure premium for the word "English", you are being charged for geography. Price the health work; admire the colour for free. Living with the silk in a flat
